Cosmetic Bonding

Make The Most Of Your Smile

A great smile is your best feature. Sadly, our patients often admit they feel self-conscious about smiling. Sometimes it’s due to crooked or chipped teeth. Other times it’s because their enamel is badly discolored. For these patients, we often recommend cosmetic bonding – also known as dental bonding or tooth bonding – a simple, affordable way to transform your smile. Cosmetic bonding is a form of prosthodontics, a field of cosmetic dentistry used to repair, restore, and replace damaged teeth. The treatment involves the attachment of a special plastic resin, colored and shaped to blend in with the rest of your teeth. This resin can be used to extend, reshape, or recolor your teeth. Cape Dental Care’s doctors have been transforming smiles across Cape Coral and Lee County for over two decades with this affordable and flexible treatment.

An Affordable, Durable Way To Repair Problem Teeth

Tooth trauma or defects happen in many different ways. From accidental damage, to dental decay, to gapped, misaligned, or misshapen teeth, there are all sorts of reasons a person might wish to reshape part of their smile. The physical health benefits of a healthy self-image and outlook have been proven time and time again. This is a major part of why our dentists so strongly believe in cosmetic dentistry, and why we embrace the amazing and versatile properties of cosmetic bonding.

What Is The Process For My Cosmetic Bonding Procedure

Most bonding treatments can be completed in a single visit. The procedure for a single tooth usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. Extensive work might be spread out over two or three appointments. During the treatment, our staff gently cleans your tooth or teeth, which helps ensure a proper bond. We then select a shade of resin that matches your tooth colour. The enamel of your tooth is given a conditioning treatment so the plastic resin will properly bond to your tooth. The resin is applied to the conditioned enamel and sculpted by your periodontist into the desired shape. We then harden the resin with an ultraviolet light, and finish the procedure with a polish and minor adjustments.
