Technology has given the field of dentistry new life over the last 5-10 years. Since the 1990′s, Cape Dental Care has been on the forefront of technological advancements used to make dentistry faster, more accurate, and more comfortable for our patients. Here is a list of some of our most popular digital techniques.
- Digital Impressions - We currently utilize iTero
digital impressions for a majority of our crown and bridgework, which altogether eliminates the uncomfortable goo and mess of traditional impression techniques. Not to mention that these impressions are the most accurate impressions in the world, allowing us to precisely fabricate the perfect crown or bridge for you.
- Digital X-rays – Our office was one of the first offices in Southwest Florida to incorporate the use of digital radiographs. Digital x-rays give us the ability to accurately detect and diagnose small cavities so we can better customize our treatment and prevention plans for our patients. Having digital images also allows us to display the pictures of your teeth on a large monitor so you we can discuss your treatment plan together. We have found that patients really enjoy reviewing their images with us. It is our belief that the more knowledge we can provide our patients, the more motivation they have in achieving their goal of maintaining a high level of oral health.
- Cone Beam X-rays – This is essentially a dental CAT scan. Being able to see the mouth in 3D is a very valuable tool in today’s dental world. Being able to study radiographs of the mouth in 3D allows us to more accurately diagnose and treat abnormal findings, to locate impacted teeth, and to plan the exact location of a dental implant. We offer our 3D images at a fraction of the cost of most dental offices because we see this technology as ESSENTIAL to providing outstanding care to our patients.

- Tekscan (T-Scan)- T-Scan is a bite analysis that shows us a computerized movie of how your teeth come together. Many things can negatively impact the way your teeth bite together including:
- Trauma to the mouth, jaws, or TMJ joint
- Orthodontics, or post-orthodontic shifting from not wearing retainers
- Ill-fitting crown or bridgework that “always felt different than my old teeth”
- Excessive wear from night-time clenching or day-time grinding.
Most dentists rely on using colored bite paper to do their adjustments. Unlike bite paper, T-Scan Bite Analysis allows us to see the amount of tooth pressure, the order of the tooth contacts, and the degree of balance between the left and right sides of the jaw. JVA – Joint Vibration Analysis is a high tech listening device for the TMJ. It can assist the doctors in diagnosing and treating problems involving the joint. When noise can be heard from the joint, a microphone headset can pick up these sounds, which are sent through a special computer algorithm to analyze the data to determine if they are normal or abnormal. Proper diagnosis can be the difference between systematic care and surgery. We make every effort to ensure your TMJ problems will be evaluated and treated by the most sophisticated and proven technologies.- Avadent Digital Dentures - The newest and most advanced way to make a complete set of upper and lower dentures on the market to day. Computer designed custom dentures can be made at our office in just two visits. Exact duplicate copies can be made at half the price of new ones.
